A few weeks ago, I got a call from a guy who said he had just heard our Give The Word ad on CHVN95.1fm (the Winnipeg Christian radio station) and that he needed to get together with me asap. We met for coffee a few days later and after only a few moments with him, I knew we needed to partner with his ministry.
Rob and his wife, along with his son and his wife have been going down to Mexico for the last 10-15 years every winter to work with nearly 25 villages in the Sierra Madre Mountains. These villages are way off the beaten path which means it takes 4x4's and dirt bikes to reach these communities. Every winter they show the Jesus film to thousands of Spanish Mexicans in their own communities. They literally 4x4 their sounds system, huge screen, projection system and bench seating in on their truck and just bless these people with a movie night dedicated to spreading the Gospel to their communities.....and they respond.
Over the past 10 years, 25 churches have been set up with 25 pastors that are passionate about their village and reaching every person for Christ...Which is where Give The Word comes in.
Rob had asked me if we could provide Spanish Bibles for them, the Abundant Life Bible in particular, which is filled with helps for brand new believers. I called our Bible publisher and asked if this Bible came in Spanish. not only did it come in Spanish but they just happened to have a stockpile of inventory of this specific Spanish Bible.
Rob had asked for nearly 5000 Bibles to take along with them for Mid October which meant we needed to get ourselves in gear to make this happen. We both got to work with fundraising and along with Rob and myself, we raised all the funds in a very short time to send 5000 to Mexico. We just received the Bibles here in Winnipeg and within a few days, they will be off to the Sierra Madre Mountain villages. We are so happy to be able to partner with them and are even more excited about the thousands of people that are accepting Christ because of Rob and his family's call to missions in their communities.
